An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate **Peer Support Co-ordinator (Band 5)** to join our forward-thinking **perinatal community service **in the Black Country.

The role of Peer Support and the voices of women and their families is highly valued within our perinatal community service.We recognise the important role of peer support in recovery and the maintenance of wellbeing.

**Main duties of the job**
The post holder will facilitate and support the development of peer support worker roles across the perinatal service in the Black Country with guidance from the Perinatal Community Service Manager and a nominated lead for recovery within the organisation.

The Perinatal Peer Support Co-ordinator will be actively involved in the recruitment of peer support workers and will organise and deliver ‘Peer Support Team Preparation’ workshops for the clinical teams.

The post holder will provide high quality individual supervision to peer support workers within the teams, and will work alongside newly recruited peer support workers, supporting them in establishing their role within the multidisciplinary team.

The role will also encompass a clinical caseload and the co facilitation of group work to deliver support to those individuals accessing the perinatal service.The post holder will promote the use of a ‘coaching’ role to support women under the service in identifying goals and developing personal recovery plans.Please see the job description for full details of the main duties required for the peer support co-ordinator role.

**Person specification**

**Essential criteria**
Qualifications at GCSE level or equivalent in Mathematics and English Language
Relevant Bachelor Degree in health, science or social science or equivalent
Completion of peer support course
Completion of own personal wellbeing plan or equivalent
Lived experience of emotional distress/ mental health problems in the perinatal period
Lived experience of using Mental Health NHS Trust services or equivalent secondary mental health care
Significant experience working as a peer support worker, or similar direct support role
Previous experience in project support and co-ordination in a previous role/s

**Desirable criteria**
Willingness to complete additional peer support training
Experience of working in a team or a group environment
Knowledge of issues of safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults
Experience of advising in service design forums
Experience of working in a peer support role mentoring others

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 30 per week

**Salary**: £27,055.00-£32,934.00 per year
