Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Team Lead (Band 8b)

0.8 wte Substantive

Newham Secondary Care Psychological Services delivers a comprehensive NHS Psychotherapy Service for people presenting with severe and complex mental health problems. We provide a high quality clinical service, where flexible and complex interventions are available across a range of therapy models and modalities, which are accessed via health professionals in the community. The service delivery is informed by attention to the social, cultural, economic and political context of psychological problems to ensure that the service meets the needs of the Boroughs diverse population.

The service offers a variety of psychotherapeutic approaches including arts, cognitive-behavioural, integrative, systemic and psychodynamic psychotherapies, and a range of groups across the modalities. It acts as a specialist resource to primary and secondary care mental health services, and contributes significantly to community services and primary care networks. The service offers supervision and consultation to mental health professionals and runs a placement programme for trainee psychologists, counsellors and psychotherapists.

We are looking for an experienced Psychodynamic Psychotherapist Team Lead to manage the Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Team, with a minimum of five years post qualification experience of working in NHS settings as a Psychotherapist with Service Users with severe and complex difficulties and experience of management and strategic service development. Additional to expertise with individual psychotherapy, the prospective applicant must have experience of running Psychodynamic Psychotherapy groups and offering Reflective Practice groups. The job offers a great opportunity to further skills in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and leadership; as well as regular clinical supervision, there are forums for support and professional development. The post holder will also be actively involved in consultation, teaching and training across the borough. They will participate in an area of the service delivery within the team, with the support of the overall service Lead.

Our mission is to make a positive difference to people's lives by improving the quality of life for all we serve. Our values are: We Care, We Respect, We are Inclusive - so we are looking for people who live and breathe these qualities when supporting service users and carers, and in their relationships with colleagues in the Trust and our partner organisations.

Kindly refer to the job description and person specification that is attached to the vacancy profile.
