We are seeking a Lecturer in Counselling and Psychotherapy on a permanent, part-time contract, to join Birkbeck's Centre for Counselling. In this role you will co-direct and teach on a popular pre-clinical psychotherapy programme with one of our key training partners.

Birkbeck's Counselling Centre is a centre of excellence for counselling and psychotherapy studies that has been offering a range of courses for students for over 50 years.

Main responsibilities will be to:

- Teach and inspire students across various settings, from small tutorials to large lectures
- Deliver engaging teaching materials and methods
- Supervise student projects and provide academic guidance
- Engage in research activities and contribute to the school's research objectives
- Participate in outreach and engagement activities to enhance public understanding of your discipline.

As Lecturer you will:

- You will be an experienced psychodynamic counsellor/psychotherapist or psychoanalytic psychotherapist with substantial post-qualification experience,
- You will have experience of successfully leading counselling and psychotherapy programmes or modules,
- You will have experience of undertaking empirical research in counselling or psychotherapy or a related field, and of teaching research methods/methodologies and supervising dissertations,
- You will be familiar with mother-infant observations and understand their role in pre-clinical and clinical trainings.

This opportunity would build on experience as a counsellor or psychotherapist in current clinical practice, a psychodynamic or psychoanalytic practitioner training counsellors in further or higher education, a psychodynamic or psychoanalytic practitioner/researcher.

**Salary and benefits**

Actual £26,181 - £36,011 per annum, (£43,636 rising to £60,018 per annum - pro rated.)

Grade LLEC, quoted is on the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance which applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the London area.
