Financial Inclusion Officer

Cromer, United Kingdom North Norfolk District Council Full time

**About The Role**:
North Norfolk is a fantastic place to live, work and visit - covering over 360 sq miles of coastal and rural environment, with a population of over 100,000 people living in 120 distinct communities, our District is one of England’s top holiday destinations and a place where people positively choose to live.

You will be providing a valuable financial inclusion service to all of our residents in order to reduce financial exclusion across our district. You will work with a range of new and existing customers who require advice, support and monitoring across all areas of financial inclusion, including debt advice, welfare benefits advice and financial capability. You will be supporting tenancy sustainment by enabling customers to manage their financial commitments to be able to retain suitable accommodation and prevent homelessness where possible. Alongside the prevention of wider personal debts and income maximisation. You will be working as part of a team responsible for the delivery of a high quality service to all customers across People Services.

**About You**:
You'll be someone who has an extensive knowledge of a wide range of benefits (including welfare reform) together with experience of working in an advisory role.

This knowledge and experience will be complemented with a positive approach to collaborative team working.

You will have excellent communication skills, as you will be required to interact with residents as well as a range of colleagues at various levels of the organisation, whilst delivering this role.

For an informal discussion please contact Deborah Baldwin on
01263 516121 or Trudi Grant on 01263 516262.

**About Us**:
We're committed to promoting equality of opportunity for the people and communities of North Norfolk. We respect and value difference in our district and across our workforce, and we want everyone to feel included and able to play their part in making North Norfolk a great place to live, learn, work and visit.

Our coast and environment are really important to us. We are part of Coastal Partnership East, an organisation with responsibility for our coastline from Holkham to Felixstowe in Suffolk. We have a net zero strategy, and a team of people working to deliver these important initiatives.

As one of the largest employers in the district, we offer a number of benefits that are open to all employees. We have a really supportive culture of enabling our people to learn and grow through attending courses, e-learning, and their day to day job roles. Our office in Cromer is clean, modern and light with onsite lunchtime catering.

We have an active health and well-being group with a new strategy, mental health first aiders, domestic abuse change champions, employee assistant program, and employee discounts portal.

We have a great forum for communication with regular updates from Directors and Chief Executive, employee voice through our Staff Focus Group, and great working relationship with Unison, our onsite recognised union.

Most people that work for North Norfolk District Council are able to enjoy a great work life balance, as part of our hybrid approach to work. If your role supports hybrid working, all we ask is that you have a stable and reliable internet connection.

In terms of the numbers, if you are new to the public sector, you’ll enjoy 24 days holiday per year plus bank holidays, and when you’ve been with us for five years, this increases to 29 days (assuming the role is full time). We provide access to a great pension scheme, based on your local authority career average earnings.
