- time post working in within the Estates Section of Campus Services.

Duties will include complete maintenance and refurbishment work, mostly of a decorating nature. The post holder will be educated to City & Guilds Part III/NVQ Level 2 in Painting and Decorating or an equivalent qualification or possess relevant experience.

This role will be located on campus at Bangor.

Applications will also be considered to carry out this role on a part-time or job share basis.

Purpose of the Job

To complete maintenance and refurbishment work, mostly of a decorating nature.

Main

**Responsibilities**:

- Carry out pre and post inspections of occupied and empty properties to determine the extent of internal and external painting and decoration required-
- Carry out a range of external and internal painting and redecoration tasks in occupied and empty properties whilst achieving a durable and quality finish.- Prepare and clean surfaces using hand-held power tools and the appropriate methods.-
- Carry out all necessary associated administrative work.- Undertake work in a safe manner, following standard work practises and associated risk assessments. To work safely at heights, internally and externally using appropriate access equipment such as a tower scaffold.- To report accidents and near misses in line with the Campus Services procedure.- Instruct others on aspects of work relating to the post holder’s original trade, including apprentices and other young persons.- To carry out work alongside, or assist, contractors in a co-operative manner.- To take responsibility for all vehicles, machines, tools and equipment used whilst carrying out duties, ensuring they are used solely for the purposes they were intended and kept in a clean and safe working condition. To take all necessary precautions to safeguard University property at all times.- To interrogate and use hand-held mobile devices to update workload and provide ‘live’ feedback on progress of work.- To check the asbestos register before undertaking any work (where appropriate) and take action relevant to the information issued.- Report any concerns regarding the work environment to the appropriate supervisor/manager.- The above list of job duties is not exclusive or exhaustive and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grade of the post. Person Specification

**Qualifications**:
Essential
- City & Guilds Part III /NVQ level 2 in Painting and Decorating or other equivalent qualification or experience.Desirable
- NVQ Level 3 in Painting and Decorating or other equivalent qualification or experience.Experience/Knowledge

Essential
- Experience of using power and hand tools.- Demonstrable experience, with post-apprenticeship experience preferably in a similar role within comparable commercial / industrial working environments.Skills/Abilities
