Adult Mental Health Support Worker

An Adult Support Worker provides care and assistance to adults who require additional support due to disabilities, mental health conditions, or other needs. The role involves helping individuals maintain independence, improving their quality of life, and supporting their personal and social development.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Personal Care & Daily Living Support**:
- Assist with personal hygiene, dressing, and grooming.
- Support with meal preparation and feeding if required.
- Help with medication administration in line with care plans.
- **Emotional & Social Support**:
- Build positive relationships to encourage confidence and independence.
- Provide companionship and emotional reassurance.
- Support individuals in engaging with social and community activities.
- **Health & Wellbeing Support**:
- Monitor and report changes in physical or mental health.
- Support with exercise, mobility, and physiotherapy routines.
- Ensure a safe and supportive environment for individuals.
- **Household & Practical Support**:
- Assist with housekeeping tasks such as cleaning and laundry.
- Help with budgeting, shopping, and managing appointments.
- Provide transport assistance where necessary.
- **Record Keeping & Compliance**:
- Maintain accurate records of care and support provided.
- Follow safeguarding policies and report concerns when necessary.
- Work in line with health & safety and confidentiality guidelines.
**Skills & Qualifications:Essential**:
- Experience in care or support work (preferred but not always required).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a caring nature.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for record-keeping.
**Desirable**:
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent).
- First Aid, Moving & Handling, or Safeguarding training.
- Knowledge of conditions such as autism, dementia, or learning disabilities.
**Additional Information**:
- **Working Hours**: Shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- **Driving License**: May be required depending on the role.
- **DBS Check**: A background check will be required.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: From £13.25 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 10 per week
