**Job Description Summary**: We are seeking an experienced Lead Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to provide support to our Dowty (Gloucester) facilities.

Primary job function is to drive EHS excellence across the Dowty (Gloucester) sites. This includes, but is not limited to the following:

- Provide day-to-day EHS support to the site, with specific responsibilities for assigned business units and functional departments.
- Work together with business leadership to drive outcomes and a strong EHS culture.
- Initiate and influence integration of EHS policies and practices into operations.
- Develop and maintain general knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain EHS programs and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
- Drive closure of corrective actions based on root-cause investigations.
- Coordinate with consultants and contractors on EHS-related items.
- Work cross-functionally to identify and address safety and health issues related to site operations.
- Help to coordinate the occupational health surveillance programme for the site, in conjunction with Occupational Health and Industrial Hygienist consultants.
- Help to coordinate contractor control and management activities.
- Maintain environmental regulatory compliance in relation to Air, Waste, Water and Sustainability.
- Be an active member in the DSE/Ergonomics programme for the site.
- Coordination of first aid programme for the site.
- Ensure compliance with machine safety and PUWER.
- Develop and conduct training and educational programs to reinforce EHS awareness.
- Management of safety risk assessment programme, hazard heat maps & strengths of defences.
- Undertake and lead accident investigations, ensuring cases are recorded and corrective actions assigned, managed, and closed in a timely manner.
- Be a key member of the EHS Committee for the site, in conjunction with other team members.
- Deputise for the EHS Leader when required.

***Required Qualifications & Experience**:

- NEBOSH National Diploma or NVQ Level 5 in Occupational Health and Safety (or working toward),
- Membership of Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).
- Recognised Environmental qualification (IEMA).
- Demonstrated ability to analyse and resolve problems.
- Experience and understanding of EHS Management Systems.
- EHS experience within an Aerospace manufacturing environment or other comparable manufacturing industry.
- A good understanding of compliance requirements (HSE & OHSA).
