Axon Moore are proud to be working on behalf of a fantastic, owner managed business who are looking for a Financial Controller to join their team. Working alongside a Finance Director, and Chairman, this role will oversee the finance operation that isseparated across two sites (St Helens and Macclesfield).
This is an outstanding opportunity for a Qualified Accountant who has an entrepreneurial mindset, looking for a fast track to Finance Director. In the short term, this position will require a greater presence in St Helens, before permanently being in Macclesfieldonce an appropriate finance function has been established.
The medium, to long term options for this role are fantastic, and rare on the market. There is a real appetite for development in this role, with a SLT keen to support the development of the successful applicant, providing commercial and operational dutiesmoving forward as you help steer the organisation through the next phase of their development.
**Main Duties**:
- Manage the day-to-day activity of a small finance function.
- Mentor and support the finance team, including line management.
- Responsible for the full end to end accounts for one group business.
- Cashflow management, utilising reports collated by the finance function.
- Management Accountants and commercial insight for the entire group function t/o c.£8m.
- Support the development of finance systems, including the implementation of a new software product (Xero).
- Ensure all financial transactions and accurately reported and look for efficiency savings.
- Establish new financial reporting systems that provides full compliance with government guidelines.
- Create strategic plans utilising financial insight to support company growth.
- Regular review of financial plans to identify cost saving initiatives.
- Constant system review to identify any data discrepancies and seek solutions.
- Partner with the Chairman and Finance Director to ensure accurate financial information is provided for board members.
**Person Specification**:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA Qualified.
- Experience working in an SME with strong cultural values.
- Experience working in Manufacturing is desirable, but not essential.
- A strong transactional background, with an aptitude to pick up further commercial responsibilities.
- An entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to move into senior leadership.
- Experience with Xero software is advantageous but not essential.
