We are delighted to announce this exciting new Band 7 OTReablement Unit Team Manager opportunity in Taunton.
This new role provides an opportunity for growth and development both clinically and as a leader. The post holder will sit within the community bedded pathway reablement units in the Taunton Cluster, offering occupational therapy support to patients who require reablement and assessment before returning home. The post holder will also support and manage our team of bedded rehab unit therapists, working alongside nursing, adult social care, discharge and support teams within care home locations in and around Taunton, providing clinical leadership and working closely with the Bedded Manager in promoting reablement.

- The post holder will be responsible for providing the operational and clinical leadership for an allocated Bedded Reablement team. This will involve working in collaboration with care home managers / ward sisters to set the strategy for the reablement provision for each reablement unit in line with current best practice.
- The post holder will be responsible for ensuring staff appraisals are completed to a high standard, completion of PDPs, ensuring staff achieve competencies and that management tasks are completed as required.
- The post holder will be required to take on or assist with more highly complex cases and hold a clinical caseload during times of increased pressures on services. It is expected that the qualified team, reablement practitioners will be utilised to complete tasks to the level of their agreed competencies. The post holder will both formally and informally line manage Band 6 registered Allied Health Practitioners and Nurses as required. Line Management support to band 5 staff, assistants and students will be required in the absence of band 6 staff. To assist clinical staff when needing to escalate patients work with them to try to problem solve to reduce the need to escalate, if required to help guide through process.
- To provide specialist education and advice as required and provide a high standard of reablement to staff and patients referred to the Team underpinned by advanced theoretical knowledge, specialist skills and relevant practical experience in community rehabilitation and recovery after acute illness.
- The post holder is expected to provide teaching, training, support and specialist clinical advice to other therapists, professionals, multi-disciplinary staff and students, both within and outside the Trust.
- The post holder will lead and participate in the development of 7 day services for intermediate care reablement unit services in conjunction with other Intermediate Care leads.
- The post holder will be responsible for his or her own Continual Professional Development (CPD).
- The post holder will be expected to cross cover other areas of the county in the event of other Reablement Unit Manager annual leave and/or absences.
