Who we need*

Our Head of Maths and English is looking for someone who wants to focus on creating high quality, digital, Functional Skills learning sessions that drive achievement of apprenticeships, whilst ensuring we support life-long learning. Working as part of our dedicated functional skills team, we’re looking for an individual who brings a spirit of collaboration, an eye for quality and a passion for problem-solving to help us produce and deliver the high-quality learning experiences, embedding functional skills and supporting learners with additional learning needs centred around maths and English.

**What you’ll do**
- Plan, deliver and report on functional skills delivery, using methods and materials appropriate to the individual and groups of learners, ensuring differentiation for levels and curriculum. A scheme of work/syllabus and lesson plans should be developed and used for this purpose.
- Use a coaching approach to help learners reflect and embed what they are learning in a way that makes a difference to them, delivering impact to their employer.
- Identify/assess the needs of learners, through a range of Initial Assessments and Diagnostics, and if necessary, adapt course content and delivery style to meet these needs, utilising a range of delivery methods for best practice.
- Engage the delivery team and LDC’s to support learners where their maths and English learning needs are low by accessing/providing/creating resources to support their main apprenticeship standard.
- Embed and reflect excellent Safeguarding, British Values and Prevent agenda/policy, making sure all learners are taught in a safe environment and are made aware of the British Values and Prevent strategy where appropriate.
- Keep accurate and timely records of learners’ progress and ensure learners and Delivery teams are given feedback on their Functional Skills progress and developments.
- Ensure learners are entered for exams timely and with an excellent pass rate.
- Provide support and moderation for speaking and listening assessments, along with exam invigilation as and when required.
- Develop best practice in line with the new Ofsted Education Inspection Framework (EIF).
- Get stuck in and become part of a busy and collaborative team.
- Take part in events, workshops, training, learning days, meetings, and graduations
- Confident, clear and constructive communication skills to build strong relationships.
- Strong organisational, time-management and administrational skills with the ability to successfully multi-task in an agile environment

**What we’re looking for**
- Functional Skills Maths, English and ICT Level 2 (or equivalent)
- Minimum of 2 year’s industry experience in training and development/teaching
- Comprehensive understanding of functional skills and supporting learners with additional learning needs
- Knowledge of how to embed functional skills into apprenticeships and experience of delivering Functional Skills training
- Teacher/Training Qualifications (minimum A1/CAVA/PTLLS/AET)
- Functional skills L2 Maths & English or GCSE C+
- Experience in supporting learners with additional learning needs
- Adaptable, able to learn quickly and use own initiative.
- An excellent command of written and spoken English
- Possess a friendly, confident, and engaging personality, able to communicate effectively and professionally and build strong relationships with students and key stakeholders.
- A real passion for learning and development.
- Strive to meet customer needs and deliver the highest level of customer service.
- Exceptionally high levels of motivation working both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong computer literacy.
