Assistant Director of Regulatory Engagement

**Summary**:
We are looking for a number of Assistant Directors of Regulatory Engagement to join us, leading the regulator’s multi-disciplinary frontline regulatory teams.
The recently passed Government Social Housing Regulation Bill gives us additional powers and responsibilities around the importance of safe, decent homes for social housing tenants and on landlord transparency and accountability. We have a key role in delivering these outcomes through an expanded, proactive consumer regulation function.
You will play a key part in this, taking a responsibility for managing an assigned portfolio of registered providers, and ensuring engagement with those providers. You will be responsible for ensuring an effective assessment of providers’ compliance, and that their work promotes effective governance, management of strategic risks, good service delivery outcomes, transparency and accountability.
Taking on a key leadership role in the planning of the work of the directorate, you will be responsible for building capacity within the team to ensure the regulator continues to deliver regulation which supports the regulator in achieving its purpose and objectives. You will be lead a team of multi-disciplinary staff, supporting and developing your team and taking responsibility for overseeing the delivery of planned and reactive inspections of registered providers, and for leading reactive engagement with providers, covering governance, financial viability, service outcomes, accountability and value for money.
**Responsibilities**:
You will have experience of dealing with issues within the principles of good corporate governance, and the ability to evaluate how an organisation has applied those principles to your work. You should also have excellent analytical evaluation skills, with the ability to exercise sound professional judgement to reach evidence-based conclusions, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills for a range of audiences.

**Location**
We currently work to a hybrid model with a mix of office and home working.
RSH’s core offices are in Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham and Bristol. We offer flexible working arrangements and staff can work from home for part of their hours. Most roles involve some travel within England between our offices, and some roles also involve onsite visits to social housing providers.

The salary for this role is a spot salary within the given range, which will normally be the minimum of the range. There is no incremental progression through a pay scale. Annual salary reviews are determined by the government pay award. In addition, when the probation period is successfully completed, a performance related bonus may be awarded, based on appraisal ratings at the end of the qualifying appraisal year.
