This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and qualified professional with drive, ability, and creativity to join Gateshead Council as a School Improvement Partner (SEN and Inclusion).

As School Improvement partner (SEN and Inclusion), you will work as a senior member of the school improvement team to deliver a range of school improvement services for the 0 - 18 age range with the aim to make a real difference to children’s education in Gateshead and beyond. You will therefore be a critical professional friend to schools by supporting their leaders to evaluate their school’s performance, identify priorities and plan effective change.

We are looking for some who has a desire for further personal and professional development in relation to SEND and school improvement; clarity of thinking and willingness to listen; a proven track record of leading successful, strategic change and successful implementation of new initiatives, demonstrating impact and next steps; experience of using the outcomes from school self-evaluation to plan effectively for school improvement, holding staff to account for the impact of their work delivering training and CPD to a range of audiences and success in improving the quality of teaching and learning with strong outcomes over a sustained period of time.

You will have qualified teacher status; successful Headteacher experience in the primary or special school sector; experience of creating an inclusive school; have knowledge of the Ofsted inspection framework and either be Ofsted trained or be willing to train; have successful experience of working in specialist provision or a setting with significant proportions of SEND children; have a thorough knowledge of the National Curriculum, including how this translates to a school curriculum, statutory and formative assessment; have the knowledge of how to analyse and use a range of quantitative and qualitative data in a school improvement context; have the ability to plan, provide and evaluate effective training, particularly in relation to SEND and inclusion, to lead and to work as a member of a team and to communicate information clearly, orally and in writing; have knowledge of how effective school governing bodies function and knowledge of inclusive practice and creating an inclusion school.

You must have the willingness to work outside of normal office hours and a full driving licence or access to mobility support.
