Role: Laboratory Assistant - Physical Chemistry, Permanent
Direct Report: to Senior Scientist or Associate Principal Scientist - Physical Chemistry
Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week
**Salary**: £20,200 pa, dependant on skills and experience, excellent benefits package plus annual bonuses
(apprenticeship salary £18,000 pa, bonus paid on completing training programme)

As a result of year-on-year success within the company and continued business growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team of 18+ Physical Chemistry scientists. The team is responsible for delivering high-quality aqueous solubility, lipophilicity, aqueous chemical stability, and matrix-binding data to our clients, supporting their drug discovery activities.
Role as our Laboratory Assistant
As our Laboratory Assistant, you will be part of our dynamic and adaptable Physical Chemistry team which supports one another through mentoring and coaching. We work with clients ranging from small academic groups to large international pharmaceutical. The team consists of people with varying levels of experience and areas of expertise, and as our business grows, we are looking for a Laboratory Assistant to support this expansion. Cyprotex will support you with relevant training, including access to apprenticeships, to enable you to build a successful career within our organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- To prepare, monitor and maintain compounds, stock solutions, buffers, and any other assay-related materials of relevance.
- To be responsible for the routine calibration of assigned laboratory equipment.
- To support the execution of assigned routine and bespoke assays.
- To ensure work is performed to an exceptionally high standard, within specified time frames, ensuring safety regulations and applicable QC procedures are strictly adhered to.
- Ensure all laboratory equipment and work areas are clean and in proper working order on completing assigned tasks.
- Ensure that all errors and erroneous results are reported to your supervisor with mínimal delay.
- To work with other stakeholders to ensure all laboratory waste is managed in the appropriate manner.
- Assist in the supervision and mentoring of trainees and other support staff when required.
- To participate in initiatives to improve group processes and make efficiency gains in assays.
- To ensure accurate and complete documentation of all activities as required by relevant SOPs and Quality policies
Education, Qualifications and Experience
- Experienced working within CRO or pharmaceutical environment would be welcomed.
