Lab and Accreditation Lead

**Role Overview**

Reporting to the Service Manager, the Lab and Accreditation Lead supports the Service Team within UKAS standards by assisting with test set up, creating appropriate test documentations, calibrating equipment, and maintaining the laboratory area on a day-to-day basis, whilst maintaining the UKAS accreditation for the laboratory.

This position is full-time, and office based, so the role holder will need to be located within a commutable distance to the Macclesfield office.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Perform laboratory tests using correct equipment, materials, and approved procedures.
- Log test data, compile and analyse results, and maintain detailed documentation.
- Maintain the laboratory cleanliness, perform routine maintenance as needed, and update the Laboratory Inventory Database.
- Calibrate equipment, including temperature, level, flow, electrical and pressure equipment, and precision instruments, in compliance with UKAS standards.
- Ensure all calibration equipment is safe, compliant, and certified against national and internationally recognised standards.
- Conduct hands-on calibrations to ISO17025 standards, ensuring timely and accurate measurements.
- Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and risk assessments.
- Support quality objectives and contribute to Quality Management System activities.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior staff, enhancing skill development and ensuring succession plans.
- Ensure health and safety compliance within the laboratory and assist with on-site audits if required.
- Document discrepancies and liaise with customers as needed.
- Cross-train in pressure temperature, and electrical calibration to meet business needs.
- Contribute to the growth and development of calibration services.

**Key Qualification and Skills**
- Previous experience working in a UKAS ISO17025:2017 accredited calibration laboratory or a detailed understanding of UKAS, the role of UKAS, their procedures and high standards of quality.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and understand geometric tolerances and quality standards.
- Actively supports and complies with Electroserv’s objectives, guidelines and commitment to Quality and Safety, with an emphasis on continual improvement.
- Must be able to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees at all levels.
- Must have the ability to complete assignments within the timeframe specified by the customers and Manager.
- Experience working in a laboratory environment with a focus on quality and risk aware.
- Good level of IT literacy, to carry out the report writing using software packages such as MS Office 365 including Word, Excel, Outlook and Sharepoint.
- Ability to follow procedures and methods and work well in a self-directed environment.
- Previous experience of working with electrical engineering equipment and specifications with an understanding of electrical principles.
- Previous experience within a calibration laboratory essential.

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Engineering background (completed an Engineering Apprenticeship Level 4).
- Educated to HNC Level.
- Willingness and flexibility to be cross trained in other areas of the business.
- Have field work experience, ideally in calibration, TUS and SAT
- Have knowledge of AMS2750
- Have knowledge of CQI-9

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £32,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
