**Salary**: £23,194 to £24,496 per annum (pro rata for part time) £12.02 to £12.70 per hour

**About New Tyne**: New Tyne Resource Centre supports people with Dementia in the Worthing area and provides 14 permanent and 5 short break placements. People referred to our care are assessed as eligible through Adult Services.

We are looking for a passionate and highly motivated Shift Coordinator

**As a Shift Coordinator, you will**:

- Work as part of a strong and supportive team providing outcome-based care which enables people to maintain or improve their skills of daily living.
- Has a basic understanding of the needs of the people you will be supporting and their rights as an individual.
- Have a good working knowledge of safeguarding and managing risks.
- Can demonstrate a basic understanding of people with learning disabilities, people with dementia and other cognitive impairments.
- Can raise concerns in relation to individuals through recognising verbal, physical or behavioural changes and signs.
- Empower and encourage the people we support to be independent and engage with the community around them.

**Experience and Skills**

**Key Skills**:
- Sound communication and interpersonal skills in order to provide clear and concise advice and specialist guidance and create effective working relationships by ensuring the views of the individual are heard and their needs met.
- Ability to work with vulnerable adults, families, and colleagues from other agencies.
- Ability to lead a team, completing shared tasks in order to deliver a service.
- Developed literacy and numeracy skills in order to monitor progress and document activities in care plans.
- Ability to organise/prioritise work and co-ordinate a variety of tasks in a clear and logical way and meet agreed deadlines which minimise the disruption to the business.
- Ability to maintain sympathetic and understanding attitude whilst dealing with challenging behaviour.
**Qualifications and/or experience**:

- NVQ 2 or 3 in Care, or working towards level 3 / Diploma / Apprenticeship, or equivalent qualification.
- Training in different forms of communication, for example Makaton, SCIP, etc, as well as training in autism, dementia care, epilepsy, medication, positive behaviours support, end of life and assistive technology.
- Demonstrable experience of working with vulnerable adults, preferably in a residential setting.
- Experience of creating assessments and plans for individual customers.
- Experience of working with adults with disabilities.
- Experience of working within a team, in order to deliver a high level of customer service and achieve set targets.
- Good understanding of the needs of the group of people that live there, including knowledge of disability issues and the needs of older people.
