Barnardo's is proud to be commencing delivery of Sandwell's Children's Centres across the Borough. The service will provide a range of quality services for families, locally designed for the 6 town areas of the Borough, divided into 3 areas:
Cluster A - Oldbury, Smethwick.
Cluster B - Tipton, Rowley Regis.
Cluster C - Wednesbury and West Bromwich.

The Administration team will take an active lead in ensuring that the impact of service delivery is measured, monitored, and reported. In addition to providing admin support to the team to achieve best outcomes for the families within that area. Objectives/key activities - Peripatetic Admin Assistant
- To provide general administrative tasks to the children's centre team, which include attending and recording Team Meetings, producing Letters/Reports and notes as appropriate.
- To support the Administration Lead (PA5) and administration officers (PA4) to ensure accurate monitoring data is collected and reported quarterly (including case studies/Service User feedback).
- To provide other general admin support to the Service Managers/Administrators and Team (i.e., filing, typing, information collecting/compiling information packs).
- To arrange any meetings/appointments/events for visitors and external visits and provide all necessary facilities/health & safety advice.
- To support the general safety and well-being of services users and guests entering sites, including reporting of core safeguarding concerns, offering comfort and information as appropriate and escalating any concerns to management as per safeguarding flowchart.
- To ensure the safety of staff by following the home visit protocol
- To support the Administration team in Health & Safety Tasks i.e., alarm tests, visitor log-in, resource management/supplies, COSHH and general centre safety.
- To assist in maintaining appointment diaries, bookings, and reminder systems (i.e., room bookings, centre availability etc.)
- Ensure the centre is presentable at all times, including displays and rooms are set-up/prepared according to nature of the booking/use.
- Support the processes of referrals to key elements of service, including Family Support, HWB&E and EEY in signposting, logging requests for referrals and liaison with seniors/project workers as needed.
- If applicable, opening and closing of the building, ensuring that all windows and doors are secured.
- If required, to assist the Administration Lead in the processing of invoices and Imprest (petty cash) claims for goods and services.
- Work with the volunteer co-ordinator around allocation of work to volunteers, assigned to support the delivery of activities.
- Support the production, maintenance and promotion of materials and opportunities designed to attract, engage, and build relationships with communities i.e., newsletters, information leaflets, notice boards and general centre information.
- Support the development and maintenance of the Virtual Children's Centre Offer i.e., website, social media, e-newsletters etc.
- To provide essential leave and sickness cover for the Service as required, which may at times include cover at other venues.
- Work as part of a team to develop initiatives and innovation as agreed with managers/thematic leads.
- Work with the wider teams within the Children's Centre Offer to meet the needs of the service across the borough.
- To meet the needs of the service, evening and weekend work may need to be undertaken as required.
- Any other duties deemed appropriate within your job role to reflect the needs of the service.
You will have:
- Previous Administration Experience in a busy environment.
- Competent use of IT packages and systems.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience of data recording and competent at keeping accurate records.
- Understanding of how to act appropriately on safeguarding concerns.
- Actively contribute to the health and safety competences.
