We are looking for an energetic, passionate individual to join the Shim cell team and take on the exciting challenge of operating and setting manual lathes, hand presses and power presses. With your expertise, you'll be responsible for ensuring the safeand efficient production of perfect quality parts, all while meeting customer deliverables and due dates.

**Key Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities of a Shim Section Supervisor include, but are not limited to:

- Supervise Shim staff and daily activities, setting an excellent standard of quality, engineering skill and behaviours.
- Manage, evaluate, and report on shim section productivity and issues.
- Monitor work in progress to ensure adherence to dates, highlighting any issues to the Operations Manager and/or Production Planner.
- Ensure raw material is issued, handled, and stored correctly.
- Identifying any quality issues to the Quality Lead and supporting in finding a suitable solution.
- Performing a daily inspection of the Shim Section, ensuring health & safety is maintained.
- Building strong relationships with other departments to ensure excellent customer service is provided.
- Look to continuously improve processes within the organization, but particularly in the Shim manufacturing process.
- Develop and support our Apprentices in becoming ‘Boneham’ People.

Boneham & Turner Ltd is a leading manufacturer and supplier of tooling components and precision engineered components in the UK. With over 100 years’ experience in the manufacture and supply of Jig Bushes, Drill Bushes, Dowel Pins, Jig & Fixture Parts, PressTool Components, Shims, Koenig Sealing Plugs, Engineered Pins, Clevis Pins and special components to customer specific drawings.

**The Benefits

**The Person
The key skills and qualities of a Shim Section Supervisor are:

- Proven track record of leading and motivating a production team.
- Have at least 3 years’ experience in setting and operating manual machines, such as Bridgeport Milling machine, Ward and DSG Lathe.
- Be experienced in the setting and operating of power presses.
- Be familiar with working with stainless steel, brass, aluminium, and titanium; (thicknesses as low as 0.025mm (0.001”) up to 6.35mm (1/4”) thickness).
- Work to tight tolerances such as our standard shim tolerances are +/-0.005” (+/-0.127mm). This could be as tight as +/-0.0004” (+/-0.010mm) in some instances.
- Have knowledge of turning laminated washer diameters to -0.005” (-0.127mm) on manual lathes.
- Work to engineering drawings, with an ability to work to imperial and metric dimensions.
- Be experienced in using verniers, micrometres and bore gauges.
- Can work to a production plan, whilst considering setting and planning efficiencies.
- Desire to continually learn and progress through the organisation.
- Always consider health and safety risks.
