**We provide a Manchester-based car-free delivery and support service, whilst enabling our community to use bicycles and e-cargo bikes to make sustainable transport choices.**

**We do deliveries for the NHS, local retailers and businesses in South**
**Manchester and City Centre. This work supports our not-for-profit community support projects.**
**These include;**
- Pick ups of unsold and surplus food for community projects, including foodbanks
- Pick ups of “pre-loved” donations for charity shops and Refugee Action, Trishaw rides for clients of Dementia Together
- Upcycling of donated bikes and training “mechanics” for asylum seekers and refugees
- Loans of our bikes, trikes and trailers from our bike library to local residents
- Organising and supporting community events to facilitate and promote active travel

Full-time Operations Lead (35 hours per week, open to job share or slightly fewer hours for the right person/people)

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, highly organised and caring person to be at the centre of a community-minded, growing cooperative. You will lead on all aspects of our commercial operations and community projects. Responsible for our part-time delivery coordinator and riders, you will be supported by our Mission Circle (board) and share the values and vision of our organisation.

Initial fixed-term 6 month contract, 30-35 hours per week by negotiation, with the view to extend pending funding. A review will take place after 3 months in the role.

**Pay: £27,300 per annum. We will also consider applicants wanting 30 hours per week at pro rata salary.**

We’re an accredited Living Wage Employer.

**Typical working day**:9.00am-4.30pm on weekdays. Occasional out of hours will be required. Within this, we offer flexibility where possible.
**Location**:Hulme/South Manchester. Working from our premises with the opportunity for hybrid working from home.

**Main purpose of the job**

You will lead on all aspects of our commercial operations and community projects. You will be responsible for our part-time dispatcher/mechanic and riders. You will be supported by our Mission
Circle (board) and share the values and vision of our organisation in order to enable its growth.

**Core responsibilities**

You will have lead responsibility for:
1) Setting up and managing our community projects
2) Supporting a team of volunteers, paid riders and a part time despatcher/mechanic
3) Recruiting and training of new riders
4) Day to day logistics, coordinating deliveries, bikes and riders
5) Safe practices relating to our riders, premises and bikes
6) Keeping policies, procedures and practises compliant with legislation eg GDPR
7) Planning work schedules and capacity for people & bikes etc.
8) Ensuring that bikes are maintained and serviced
9) Implementing, maintaining and developing our admin systems practices
10) Managing day to day financial transactions of the organisations
11) Providing financial information, including cash flow monitoring, projections and planning
12) Identifying funding opportunities and working with others to submit funding bids
13) Internal and external communications, including with existing and potential traders, funders and riders
14) Ensuring our social media and website are up to date

**Tasks**

**Oversee day to day delivery operations and administration**
1. Manage the rota of riders and bikes
2. Cover despatch duties including liaising with customers and assigning deliveries promptly to allocated riders using our CoopCycle platform
3. Be a key point of contact for riders and customers, including some out of hours
4. Work in partnership with the part-time despatcher/mechanic to ensure all core hours are covered, including acting as first point of contact for enquiries
5. Be an emergency rider as needed (‘everyone rides’)
6. Respond to emergencies and urgent situations

**Bikes**
1. Ensure that all bikes are regularly checked, log any issues and liaise with suppliers & mechanics
2. Keep and up-to-date record of our bikes and suitability for different deliveries
3. Ensure the rota includes allocation of suitable bikes
4. Ensure that our fleet is fit for purpose

**Project Work**
1. Help develop and run existing community projects
2. Take a lead on new projects
3. Assess and advise on resources and capacity for any new projects
4. Develop and maintain relationships with our commercial traders
5. Ensure that data is collected and returned to funding bodies as required

**Finance**
1. Managing the finances of the organisation (including using quickbooks) to invoice clients, paying riders and monitoring cash flow
2. Liaise with our external accountant
3. Implement finance and monitoring systems
4. Produce regular financial reports and projections
