Machine Operator

**Role Purpose**: To oversee the effective running of a production line. As a Technical Operative you will take care of all machine-specific functions such as configuring the equipment, loading, and operating the machines, and optimizing the machine capability while ensuring quality of products produced is in line with organisational standards. Additionally you will be responsible for conducting/assisting with preventative and reactive maintenance.
**Reporting to**: Value Stream Team Leader
**Main Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Calibrate the machine prior to production starting
- Organising staff to support the set-up process
- Responsible for feeding raw materials into semi-automated machines
- Monitoring running performance and making appropriate adjustments to achieve and maintain optimal OEE performance
- Monitoring product weight to ensure compliance with weights and measures legislation
- Support with Changing-over processes (may include allergen cleaning)
- Organise staff to support the change-over process
- Ensure the machines are regularly checked and cleaned
- Organise the cleaning of the production line, associated equipment, and its environs
- Support Line Leader in achieving set productivity and performance targets ensuring consistent quality standards are met.
- Ensure adherence to all Standard Operating Procedures, performing duties following Good Manufacturing Practices and 5S practices
- Takes part in Continuous Improvement activities and contribute suggestions to improve line performance
- Adhere to health and safety regulations, working within ‘safe systems of work.’
- Ensure full compliance with Company Quality, Food Safety, Health & Safety and Environmental requirements.
- Ensure all stoppages/ breakdowns are recorded/ reported
- Supports the manufacturing process by responding efficiently to line running issues, as first point of contact.
- Undertaking preventative scheduled maintenance of equipment.
- Conducting alternative duties, such as packing, rework as and when required to support line/team.
**Role Requirements**:
- Prior experience as a Machine Operator/Technical Operative. At least 1 year experience in a similar hands-on role
- Experience of working in a food manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of a heavy duty and high-speed machinery
- Exceptional knowledge of safety methods and hazard regulations
