**AboutSupport With Leisure**:
Barnardo's Support with Leisureservice has been established in Cardiff since 1984 and Barnardo's works in partnership with Cardiff Local Authority and their Child, Health and Disability Team (CHAD). Support With Leisure is a Care Inspectorate Wales registeredservice that provides activities and support to children and young people aged from 5 - 18 yrs. with additional needs, autism spectrum conditions and disabilities. The Service supportsthe child or young person to be a part of their local communities anduse the facilities available to help develop social skills and networks, enhance emotional and physical development and to have fun.The time spent away from their families also provide other family members with a period of respite from their caring role.

**What does the Job entail?**

Support With Leisure offers a mixture of after school and weekend sessionsproviding up to 4 hours of supportfor children and young people per session.Oursupport continues through school holidays and half terms and we offer a Summer and Easter HolidayScheme for four weeks and two weeks respectively. All children are able to participate with the help of their support workers. Part of the role will include supporting children with more complex needs and supporting staff to be confident in their role. Yourrole will also include working alongside the Children's Services Manager to plan staff rota's and learning opportunities. You may be required to liaise with other staff and agencies when needed to review children's progress and identify further support orleisure needs.

**Your main duties will include:**
- assisting children and young people to access play and leisure activities in the communityand at Ely Family Centre (up to 6 hours per week).
- lead the planning of activitieswith the Children's Services Manager and Team members.
- help develop new areas of delivery.
- promote health and safety assessments ensuring that the child/ren in your care can safely enjoy each activity.
- liaise with Parents, Social Workers, Education and Health CareStaff.
- lead Team Meetings.
- providing Supervision to Staff (x 4).

**You will have**:

- experience or knowledge of of supervising staff or volunteers.
- knowledge of safeguarding procedures.
- understanding of the needs of children and young people withdisabilities, autismand additional needs.
- the ability to communicate and work well with others.
- knowledge of health and safety.
- ability to travel throughout Cardiff to meet the requirements of the role.
- willingness to learn.
