A Learning Support Assistant (LSA) helps children and young people who need extra support within the classroom, to ensure that children with barriers to learning can access the same level of education as their peers. The LSA's main role is to provide supportfor pupils with special educational needs (SEN).

The Learning Support department works with a range of special educational needs, such as ASD, ADHD etc., therefore, you will gain extensive theoretical and practical knowledge of special educational needs, which may be of benefit in future employment oreducational endeavours.
You may work with individual learners in the classroom 1:1 or you may work with individuals or small groups in the Learning Support department, - you will be immersed in the Learning Support department, which will allow you to gain an understanding of therole of the department in relation to the wider school. Thus, you will see first-hand the difference you make to young people's education.
**_The assignment:_**
- Supporting children's behaviour for learning
- Assisting children with their understanding of activities and encourage active participation in class
- Assisting with note taking
- You may work with individual learners in the classroom 1:1 or you may work with individuals or small groups in the Learning Support department.
- Supporting the pupil's individual needs, according to their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
- Participating in team meetings and Continual Professional Development (CPD) training provided by the school as an active member of a team
- Maintaining pupil progress records
- Supporting regulations pertaining to safeguarding (Department for Education )
