Sustainability Manager

**About the Role**:
Relationships mean everything to us, and this one is particularly special. You'll have an important part to play in automotive success that spans nearly 50 years. Unipart Logistics (UL) has secured a contract to run the new, custom-built Jaguar Land Rover Global Parts Logistics Centre at Appleby Magna in Leicestershire. The operation will be housed at Jaguar Land Rover's new Mercia Park campus, one of the largest UK warehouse developments for a single customer. With a multimillion-pound major facility investment program already underway, we would like you to join us now as Sustainability Manager to support this project. This is a great opportunity to be a major part of the successful implementation of what is said to be the largest automotive logistics project in the UK.

Ensuring sustainability responsibilities are being carried out fully across the contract, you will lead and facilitate the implementation of our environmental policies, Environmental Management System, and sustainability action plan including stakeholder engagement activity across multiple suppliers. You will provide technical knowledge and to the contract and all change projects and will promote the principle and consciousness that effective management of environmental sustainability is an integral part of efficient business and operational management.

**As part of your key responsibilities you'll**:

- Own and coordinate operational process, procedure and project delivery for the Mercia Park Sustainability plan, engaging with all stakeholders and reporting progress, risks, and challenges
- Advise all levels of management on applicable net zero and environmental legislation compliance with legal obligations with regards to Environmental Regulation
- Ensure compliance with any environmental consents or permits, providing data for regulatory bodies as required
- Be responsible for the upkeep and development of the Environmental Management Strategy, and Environmental Management System (EMS), complying with the requirements of ISO14001 (2015)
- Attain 5* Environmental Audit standard across the operation as soon as possible
- Manage and carry out environmental audits and inspections, assisting with the internal and external auditing of the EMS
- Manage environmental sustainability non-conformities, complaints and new initiatives with colleagues and management
- Develop behavioural change programmes, training and awareness for staff at all levels in environmental and sustainability issues and responsibilities
- Investigate any environmental incidents or near misses and present the findings, root cause and any corrective action plans
- Identify and drive ways to reduce energy, carbon emissions, water and single use plastic across the contract
- Liaise with waste management company and other suppliers as identified in the sustainability plans RACI, to identify ways to reduce waste and drive up recycling on sites
- Implement site reduction and reuse plans
- Ensure appropriate documentation is provided to meet necessary reporting requirements for all stakeholders
- Collate, analyse and report on energy, waste, water, CO2 emissions and single use plastic as part of internal and external reporting requirements
- Report to customer and internal reviews and meetings as required on all environmental and sustainability topics
- Produce monthly/ quarterly environmental sustainability performance reports to all levels of the business

**About You**
- Previous experience of working in sustainability related topics in a corporate environment, public sector desirable but not essential
- Knowledge of ESG and Sustainability including experience working in a range of frameworks and accreditations e.g. CDP, ISO14001, SBTi, UN's SDG's, BSC 5* Audit
- Strong decision-making skills and comfortable promoting your viewpoint to key stakeholders
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills to enable collaboration between work streams/departments to maximise project value
- Experience of project management reporting, metrics and approaches
- Passionate about sustainability and excellent communication skills able to convey messages in a way that gains engagement in the sustainability strategy
- Educated to degree level within a relevant field
