**Job Summary**:
**ESSENTIAL: Must have previous GP Reception/Admin experience**
It is the role of the GP Receptionist to assist the patients in the easiest possible way to see the Doctors, Nurses and any other Health Care professional within the Practice and wider healthcare services. Patient enquiries must be handled courteously, efficiently and with empathy. Administrative work must be undertaken efficiently and promptly.
Receptionists will receive instructions and be accountable to the Practice Manager.
It is important that all members of staff are prepared to take on additional duties or relinquish existing duties in order to maintain efficient running of the practice. The Partners reserve the right to re-distribute duties and functions among members of staff from time to time, and requests for such changes shall not be unreasonably refused.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken by members of the Practice administration team may include any or all of the items in the following list. Duties may be varied from time to time under the direction of the Practice Manager, dependent on current and evolving Practice workload and staffing levels:
- Greet and welcome all patients / visitors
- Book in, amend and cancel patient appointments in line with practice appointments procedures
- Answering telephone calls, taking messages, ensuring all are actioned / redirected / documented
- Produce repeat prescriptions according to practice procedures and ensure timely completion of the scripts for the clinicians on a daily basis.
- Communicating clearly and effectively with staff to aid the smooth running of the Practice.
- Ensure that patients without appointments but who need 'urgent consultations’ are referred to a GP where necessary who will advise on further action.
- Receive and accurately record requests for home visits.
- Responding to requests or queries for support as they arise in an appropriate and timely manner (including prescriptions)
- Ensure reception and waiting areas are kept neat and tidy
- Registration of new patients onto the computer system.
- Ensure computerised appointment system is up-to-date
- Re-stocking of information leaflets
- Photocopying
- Ensure up-to-date maintenance of both computerised and manual filing systems (i.e. patient notes).
- Ensure correspondence, reports, results etc. are filed electronically in the correct patient record.
- Amalgamation of new patient records

- Summary Care Records
**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 16-25 per week
**Salary**: £10.00 per hour
