The role of the Lead Access Team Co-ordinator is to provide specialist advice and support to all specialty management teams to ensure the delivery of elective access targets, including referral to treatment and cancer targets.
Support the development and implementation of policies and procedures relating to the RCHT Access Policy.
Lead role in monitoring the referral to treatment pathway, including outpatients, diagnostics, and in-patients.
To work with clinical, management and administrative teams to support service development and initiatives relating to patient access whilst delivering on national and local expectations.
Lead on the development and delivery of training on all aspects of patient access.
Day to day line management of Access Team.

Access Team to act as the first point of contact relating to access management, referral to treatment and all wait time targets.
Direct liaison with patients as part of the national and local waiting list initiatives. Liaison with patients with deteriorating or changes of condition, assessing whether a clinical review is required, and following up with the relevant trust specialty to ensure patient best interests are adhered to.
In conjunction with the Access Co-Ordinator’s work with specialty management teams to ensure patients waiting for appointments and/or treatment are managed in chronological order, within clinical priority and seen or treated within the maximum wait time in line with national guidelines and Trust policy.
To track, monitor and record progress against identified measures, including demand, capacity, recovery, and activity plans, to enable reporting on a regular basis.
To lead on the development and delivery of training to individuals and groups of staff to support new and existing processes which support the Access Policy.
To lead on the Access Policy Audit programme to ensure compliance, providing feedback on waiting list management and recommendations for continued improvement.
Co-ordinate highly complex waiting list validation programmes and manage outcomes, and reporting to National teams as required to validate data and reduce patient waiting times.
