The Old Deanery in Ripon is one of Yorkshire’s newest and most exciting dining experiences, having re-branded as a “restaurant with rooms” with award winning chef, Adam Jackson since November 2023, winning 3 AA Rosettes in September 2024, and becoming Michelin Recommended in January 2025.

The Night Porter role at The Old Deanery is an extension of the daytime team, continuing high levels of customer service through the night: You will interact with guests as and when appropriate including such things as, serving late night drinks after the restaurant team have departed, wishing guests a good night as they retire to bed, answering questions, answering the telephone if it rings, possibly assisting with early check-outs and making coffees for early risers before the front of house team arrive in the morning.

The Night Porter will be provided with a checklist of jobs to complete through the night, including but not exclusive to; cleaning, setting up the restaurant for the next day, putting orders away, and re-stocking the bar. You will also be responsible for the safety and security of the building through the night, ensuring that doors are closed and/or locks as appropriate, and periodically completing walks around the building.

The Old Deanery is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Open from lunchtime on Wednesdays for drinks and overnight stays. Lunch, and our signature evening tasting menu is served Thursday to Saturday, and we serve a fantastic (busy) Sunday lunch on Sundays.

The Night Porter would be required to work Wednesday to Saturday evenings, with the hours commonly being from 8pm - 8am on Wednesdays and 10pm - 8am on Thursday/Friday/Saturday. This will equal around 42 hours per week. Rotas are provided weekly and on occasion there may be some flexibility with hours required, dependent on the needs of the business.

Pay: £13.30 per hour

Expected hours: 42 per week
