A fantastic opportunity has become available for a Music Teacher at Brantwood Specialist School, to work with students with learning disabilities and complex needs to achieve accredited qualifications. We are looking for a teacher willing to deliver a bespoke Ruskin Mill music curriculum, drawing from the disciplines of music education, music performance, music therapy, and world music’s, also influenced by Steiner education principles. A large studio is available well-equipped with a wide range of bespoke hand-crafted instruments.
- To plan and deliver music sessions to small groups of students according to their individual needs and learning requirements
- To encourage students with the right aptitude to prepare and perform pieces of music, whether solo or as a group, at festivals and college performances.
- To be part of an ongoing assessment of students’ learning needs and to make reasonable adjustments as required, minimising barriers to learning and achievement
- Work creatively with different musical styles and acoustic, unplugged instruments to meet the varied needs of our students.
- Positively role model behaviours and attitudes.
- Support students on their life journey by developing good rapport and giving appropriate challenges that build the self confidence to participate in the cultural life of the community.
- Work with, and support staff to enable them to deliver music in the classroom.
- Prepare festival music with staff
**_The position may suit recent graduates from music trainings including music therapy and world music’s. _**
