**About Us**:
The First Step is a compassionate and forward-thinking organisation committed to improving the lives of children and young people (C&YP). We provide a safe and nurturing environment where their needs are at the center of everything we do. We are seeking an experienced Senior Children's Worker to lead and develop our support services for C&YP, ensuring they receive the highest level of care and assistance.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Support Services Development**:

- Develop and maintain age-appropriate support services for children and young people, ensuring sensitivity to their individual needs.
- Create a warm, welcoming, and responsive environment that fosters trust and growth for C&YP.

**Service Management**:

- Report to the Refuge Manager on the day-to-day operations of the service, providing updates and progress reports as required.
- Maintain clear and accurate records of all interactions, including contact with C&YP, information provided, support offered, and referrals made to other agencies.

**Partnerships and Collaboration**:

- Work collaboratively with external agencies and partners to ensure C&YP have access to comprehensive support and resources.
- Act as an advocate for C&YP, ensuring their voices are heard and their best interests are prioritized.

**Leadership and Supervision**:

- Lead by example, supporting team members in delivering high-quality services.
- Provide regular training, guidance, and feedback to staff to ensure continued professional growth.

**Monitoring and Evaluation**:

- Monitor the effectiveness of the service, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing changes as necessary.
- Ensure all services adhere to relevant policies, safeguarding standards, and best practices.

**What We’re Looking For**:

- Proven experience in a senior role working with children and young people, ideally within a refuge or similar setting.
- Strong understanding of the challenges C&YP may face, particularly in crisis situations.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to build trust and rapport with children, families, and professional partners.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of C&YP.
