Background: The YMCABCGhosts a thriving community facility at the heart of Wolverhampton. It provides generalneeds accommodation for 63 flats, for 18-35 year old professionals, a largeChildcare Department (Nursery, Out of School Club etc.), Gateway Exchangecommunal residence area,, and community learning services.

The post holder must be able to respect the Christian Ethos of the YMCAand uphold its values.

**Duties**:
1. Undertake cleaning and domestic duties of allpublic areas, offices, childcare rooms, communal and service areas thatinclude:
- Emptying waste bins or similar receptacles,transporting waste material to refuse collection point
- Sweeping floors with brushes or dust control mops
- Mopping floors with wet or damp mops
- Vacuum clean carpeted areas and spot cleaningcarpets
- Use electrically powered scrubbing/polishingmachines to scrub, polish and spray clean floors and steam cleaning equipment (afterreceiving proper instruction and training).
- Dust,damp wipe, wash or polish the furniture, ledges, window sills, externalsurfaces of: - cupboards, radiators, shelves and fitments.
- Replenish consumable items (soap, toilet rolls,paper towels)
- Clean toilets, urinals, hand basins and sinks
- Clean wall and floor surfaces as required
- Use chemical agents as directed by the supervisingofficer
- Undertake wall washing or inside window panecleaning as necessary

2. Ensure that cleaning equipment is maintained andadequate materials are available at the beginning of each shift.

3. Report all breakages, defects and areas of concern tothe Domestic Supervisor

4. Complete record sheets in line with procedures.

5. Carry out all reasonable duties as required by the supervisingofficer.

6. Undertake minor maintenance tasks if required (e.g.change light bulbs etc which will include use of step ladders).

7. Be prepared to work at other locations asnecessary.

NVQ level 2 in Cleaning Services

Basic knowledge of Health & Safety Regulations as they relate to the operation of cleaning equipment and the dilution of cleaning materials.

**Ability to understand COSHH Regulations**:
Basic standard of literacy to read and understand instructions

**Skills**:
Ability to carry out cleaning and domestic work to a high standard, including use of machinery (e.g. buffer machine, wet vac)

Ability to work without close supervision

Ability to follow orders and to keep Line Manager fully informed

Ability to work in an organised and methodical manner

Ability to work as member of a team

Ability to act on own initiative, dealing with any unexpected problems that arise

Ability to work in an organised and methodical manner
