Solihull Youth Hub is seeking an enthusiastic person to join our Youth Hub Team to meet the requirements of providing a single point of access for all young people aged 16 to 24, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and to meet the demands Homelessness Reduction Act.
This role requires the post holder to provide effective homelessness & housing advice, and assistance to prevent and resolve the homelessness of young people that approach our service. You will need to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, have an ability to work flexibly due to competing demands and operate in a coordinated manner with other team members to ensure successful outcomes. Finding the right person is critical to our future success.
This is a full time, permanent role based at our Solihull Youth Hub.
**Salary**: £25,314 - £26,988 per annum, pro rata

This role requires expert knowledge and experience of working with vulnerable people as well as a core understanding of issues surrounding youth homelessness such as mental health, domestic violence and care leavers.

We are looking for someone who is able to be empathetic and respond to sensitive issues effectively, but who is firm when necessary. You will need to use your own initiative to resolve issues, and to be able to work under pressure in a very demanding environment.

The primary aim of this role is to support a preventative approach to youth homelessness and resolve customer homelessness and ensuring the Council’s Statutory Duty is adhered to, and that we provide essential advice and assistance to people presenting in crisis.
We are looking for people who:
- Have experience of working in a customer focused environment including front line customer service experience
- Have experience of managing a case load and completing case work effectively
- Have knowledge of Housing Acts particularly Homelessness
- Have strong communication skills
- Have good planning and organising skills
- Are accurate and attentive to detail
- Are confident using Jigsaw and QL databases
- Are empathetic and able to deal with young people in a sensitive and appropriate manner in a demanding environmentFurther information about this vacancy can be found in the attached Applicant Information Pack.
- Up to date knowledge of welfare rights and relevant legislation including the Homeless Reductions Act
- Experience of working within the following areas: Youth Work, Residential or Social Work, Probation/Criminal justice, Community Work, Education and Training, housing or support work.
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Social Care (or prepared to work towards)
