The post holder will be responsible for providing a quality of service in an efficient, responsible and a timely manner to all users of the patient Transport service. The Key role will be in service development customer care and close liaison with, ambulance staff, senior management, medical staff, management of the medical and logistic (M&L) ambulance service system and patient administration systems (PTS).
- To check and record all patient transport patients on log sheets to ensure correct records are maintained.
- Use Trusts systems (Careflow) to locate patients, confirm information is correct.
- To check system (Careflow) to confirm patient's appointments are still relevant.
- Contact patients the day before their appointment to confirm they will be attending to reduce DNA’s (patient did not attend).
- Check patients' arrival and departures, maintaining appropriate records to monitor quality standards and to ensure all patients are accounted for.
- Monitor abortive journeys and implement systems to reduce overall numbers in liaison with Line Manager.
- In the absence of Contracted Transport Supplier, print out daily log’s sheets for both outpatients and discharges.
- Booking mini-cabs as necessary following Trust transport policy.
- To book couriers for both on site at Whittington and for community sites maintained by the trust.
- Take an active part in the rotation of all duties, including, ambulance control room, contacting patients, answering telephone queries, reception duties as required.
- Be responsible for ordering of office stationary, ensuring adequate stock control.
- Be responsible for ordering of PPE and ensuring adequate stock control.
- To be responsible for reporting faults, and maintenance problems within area.

Collect any data that is required for monitoring purposes as directed by Line Manager.

Maintain and utilise department and Trust information systems to ensure accuracy of information held.

Participate in discussions concerning ways to improve the provision of services to patients.

Work with limited supervision and on own initiative, prioritising own workload.

Keep work up to date within departmental set standards.

Adhere to appropriate health & safety, fire and statutory regulations and all Trust policies relevant to the post.

The post holder will be responsible for providing a quality of service in an efficient, responsible and a timely manner to all users of the patient Transport service. The post holder will communicate effectively with other department and disciplines across the trust. The post holder and their team will often be the first point of contact for the trust therefore it is important the team members portray a welcoming professional and caring image.

The post holder will be expected to undertake clerical and administrative duties as part of the team where appropriate, ensuring the basic and essential services are met.

The post holder is expected to have a flexible “can do approach” in ensuring the work of the department is carried out to the required high standards. The post holder will contribute to the continuous evaluation of the system to improve the service and meet targets. The post holder will carry out on a weekly basis, fire audit for the department, they will also carry out monthly audits for health & safety and security.
