Social Media Engagement Officer

**How you'll make a difference**:
This is an exciting opportunity to manage and develop the council’s use of social media platforms, leveraging social listening to track trends and behaviours and publishing content that feels personalised and relevant to engage in two-way conversations with residents.
The role of Social Media Engagement Officer sits within the User-centred Design team of the council’s Strategic Communications division.
- You will support the Strategic Communications management team in the development of the council’s social media strategy to deliver targeted messages, using rich content to drive engagement in line with the council’s strategic objectives
- You will be coordinating, creating, scheduling and publishing compelling content via the council’s social media channels to engage, inform and motivate the public
- You will provide support to communications colleagues in the delivery of council campaigns and the promotion of news items, by checking and approving, creating, scheduling and responding to messages on social media
- You will share relevant local and national social media campaigns from partner organisations, localising content to South Gloucestershire as appropriate
- You will undertake the monitoring of social media comments coming into the organisation and where appropriate interacting with the public and responding to or directing enquiries on within the organisation
- You will monitor channels to gain insight into perceptions regarding council services and policy and identify potential issues, concerns or dissatisfaction.
- You will correct misinformation and disinformation about the council being shared on social media and deleting comments on council accounts that are offensive, abusive or disruptive and break our guidelines
- You will contribute to campaign measurement and evaluation, evaluating against agreed communications objectives and strategy.
- You will identify national best practice within public sector use of social media, proposing innovative and creative ways to develop content and engage the public via social media channels.
**What we need from you**:
- You must have proven experience of delivering a social media strategy
- You will have knowledge of the evolving social media landscape and tools.
- You will have excellent writing skills across multiple communications channels and an ability to craft messages that influence and persuade
- You will be able to to work collaboratively across teams, councils and communities
- You will be able to multi task able to work to deadlines
- You will be able to absorb, evaluate and communicate complex information appropriate to the audience
- You must be resilient with a flexible approach, able to adapt to change
- Public sector experience would be an advantage
