An exciting opportunity is now available for a Regional Programme Planner to work in the Regional Investments Programme (RIP) Southeast division of Major Projects within National Highways. This role will be based from our Guildford office, although hybridworking is also available.

RIP is one of four programmes within National Highways Major Projects Directorate. Major Projects is responsible for the delivery of nearly 70 projects with a total value more than £14 billion, and some of the most exciting and challenging projects in thecountry. National Highway’s goal is to change the industry: to make roads and their construction and maintenance safer; to be more responsive to the needs of our customers, particularly about biodiversity and carbon; and to exploit the digital agenda and drivethe productivity agenda to improve delivery.

Within this role you will be required to report to and support the PMO Manager in delivering excellence in planning and scheduling at a programme level, enabling timely, safe, efficient and customer focused project delivery and contributing to measurableimprovements in planning and scheduling quality.

What you’ll be leading on

Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with the Programme Management team, to gain a full understanding of the baseline Project Control Framework Products and to provide advice and guidance on required Planning & Scheduling management processes.
Engage with supply chain planners to ensure that they comply with the required planning and scheduling procedures and best practices, ensuring collaboration and production of integrated programme plans that drive measurable results at project, region and programmelevels
Create and maintain programme plans and schedules that are of a quality, logic, format & content that enable accurate and robust interrogation, enable Quantitative Cost and Schedule Risk Analysis, are contractually compliant, are integrated with quality targetsacross all schedules, and are capable of integration at Programme level.
Develop and present regular reports on schedule status and performance to support the Programme Management team in the monitoring and reporting of performance, and in the identification and resolution of issues, risks and opportunities.
Drive and monitor the change identification process, ensuring that this is consistent with corporate and Programme-specific management processes, tools, documentation and reporting.
Monitor the risk / opportunity management process ensuring that this is consistent with corporate and Programme-specific management processes, tools, documentation and reporting, and contribute to the monthly review of the Programme risk and opportunity register.
Provide regular reports on all Planning and Scheduling activities, monitoring progress against planned activities, to support resource planning, continuous improvement and management decision making.
To be successful you’ll need

Understanding of the construction market, methods of construction, plant, equipment and labour requirements.
Experience communicating with a wide variety of stakeholders
Experience of working in a complex programme and project environment.
Experience of creating and maintaining project plans and schedules in a major multi-disciplinary environment.
Experience of capturing and analysing schedule data at a project level.
Experience of scheduling tools and systems, specifically Primavera P6, Deltek Acumen Tools.
A proactive approach to problem solving and ability to identify and implement solutions
