University of Warwick, United Kingdom University of Warwick Full time

Permanent position, 36.5 hours per week.

By 2030 Warwick will be one of the world’s exceptional universities, helping to transform our region, country and world for the collective good.

Warwick has always been known for its innovation and the Information & Digital Group (IDG), where this role lives, was formed in that mould. We aim to make Warwick the most digitally-enabled university in the UK and be recognised as a global trailblazer; delivering on the University’s key objectives across all areas - including research, education, sustainability, diversity and inclusion.

Working with us at Warwick means that no two days will be the same. It is a place of possibility and challenge, where you’ll find a supportive environment, with the scope to learn, grow, make an impact and develop your career. IDG’s scope of work is transformative and stretches far beyond supporting the teaching and research excellence for which Warwick is known. It also underpins business, innovation, communications, professional services, estates and much more. We’re proud to be an institution where all our staff, researchers, students and alumni change lives, both close to home and on a global scale.

As Chief Data Officer, the successful applicant will demonstrate exceptional leadership, being responsible for setting and championing an institution-wide data strategy - including an appropriate delivery infrastructure to derive the maximum value from the data available to the University. This will require collaboration with senior members of staff, including University Executive and Enterprise Architecture, to ensure strategic decisions are underpinned with data by establishing sector-leading data analytics and business intelligence capabilities. In addition, you will be responsible for the data management requirements of the institution, including data governance, data quality, and promoting a culture of data-informed decision-making.

As one of the largest regional employers, we’re based on a beautiful landscaped campus between Coventry and Warwick, featuring lakeside walks, Warwick Arts Centre, an amazing Sports and Wellness Hub and many other great facilities. We work in partnership with Transport for West Midlands, making our campus a test-bed for sustainable transport. We’re also piloting hybrid working, so that many staff can enjoy the benefits of combined campus and remote working for better work/life balance

We believe that when we work through the power of our people, our knowledge and our collaboration, we can all contribute to a better world.

Interview Date: TBC.
