**JOB DESCRIPTION: Ledger Clerk**

**REPORTS TO: Financial Controller**

**FUNCTION/DEPARTMENT: Finance**

**JOB PURPOSE**

A ledger clerk responsible for maintaining accurate and timely information in the Sales and Purchase Ledgers as well as responsibility for some areas of the balance sheet. The incumbent will report directly to the Financial Controller who heads up the Finance function for the UK company and work alongside the other members of the finance team.

It is expected that all staff in this small team will support and provide cover for each other as necessary to ensure the smooth running of the function.

**PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- Responsible for purchase ledger from checking PO’s to processing invoices
- Aged creditor reconciliations and resolving queries
- Setting up weekly payment runs
- Customer and Supplier master data creation in SAP
- Maintenance of Fixed Asset Register
- Processing voucher refunds and credit notes
- Invoice accruals and prepayments, work with Assistant Accountant to identify requirements
- Provide absence cover for other members of the team.
- Other ad hoc tasks or projects as required for the efficient operation of the finance function.

**KEY SKILLS**
- Experience of purchase ledger processing, studying towards AAT or qualified.
- Well organized, team player with good attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Customer focused.
- Strong IT skills are essential, to include Microsoft Office and experience with accounting software, SAP B1 knowledge would be very useful.

The working hours are 9.00 - 5.30pm with an hour break for lunch. However, you will be required to work such hours as is necessary to carry out the role.
