London, United Kingdom Whittington Health NHS Trust Full time

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the innovative and dynamic Haringey Parent Infant Psychology Service (PIPS) to cover maternity leave for one year.

To provide specialist clinical psychology /parent infant psychotherapy assessment and therapeutic input to
families referred to PIPS by Health Visitors, Midwives and Perinantal psychiatry, with particular
emphasis on assessment and early intervention therapeutic work.

The therapy offered within PIPS aims to strengthen the parent-infant relationship, and help with the transition to parenthood (including antenatal input) and may involve working with couples and families as they navigate their experience of becoming parents.

PIPS also provide systemic consultation to early years staff providing services to children under the age
of five in the borough (HV and midwifery teams, social care, FNP, childrens’ centres, children in care teams) where there attachment issues are pertinent.

Whittington Health serves a richly diverse population and works hard to ensure that all our services are fair and equally accessible to everyone. Nowhere is this more obvious than in the way we look after our staff. We aim to employ a workforce which is as representative as possible of this population, so we are open to the value of differences in age, disability, gender, marital status, pregnancy and maternity, race, sexual orientation, and religion or belief. The Trust believes that as a public sector organisation we have an obligation to have recruitment, training, promotion and other formal employment policies and procedures that are sensitive to these differences. We think that by doing so, we are better able to treat our patients as well as being a better place to work.

In addition to the clinical work described in the summary above, with the focus on parent infant relationships, PIPS has a valued role in supporting colleagues in Health Visiting, Midwifery, Perinatal Psychiatry and in Early Years settings (Childrens Centres, Nurseries, Social Care) through consultations and trainings in parent infant relationships, and infant mental health.
