**The role**:
The Head of Operations Planning is an integral role, accountable for the smooth running of our worldwide operation by ensuring the operability of our schedule with all key resource areas. This includes the long-term planning of key resources and ensuring efficient and effective execution of rostering in line with industrial rules to deliver the busy operating schedule.

A key member of the Operations Planning Leadership team you’ll develop creative solutions to complex challenges ensuring focus on continuous improvement in resource utilisation and productivity, whilst satisfying legal, industrial, infrastructure and cost constraints. An inspiring leader you’ll set clear direction for your team and be influential internally and externally with stakeholders, demonstrating credible, data driven, decision making capabilities.

**Key accountabilities;**
- Accountable for ensuring the operability of your resource area by ensuring the resource meet the requirements of the operating schedule in timeframes of 5 years out down to the day of operation.
- Produce legal, efficient and timely rosters.
- Coordinate key stakeholders in training and recruitment to ensure the supply of sufficient resources to deliver the resource plan
- Develop contingency plans during times of disruption and liaise with stakeholders including managing the rostering of any support resources
- Ensure management team deliver to the plan, budget and resource requirements by robust tracking and escalating of any issues.
- Ensure resources are recruited, trained, promoted and transferred as necessary to deliver resource and financial plans.
- Develop and implement proposals for productivity improvements
- Support the development of a progressive TU relationship on all resource issues
- Manage contract changes for resources including part-time, transfers, unpaid leave.
- Develop, implement and analyse strategic approach to colleague ad hoc time-off requests balancing a consistent and fair approach with operational constraints.
- Manage relationships with line managers, other operational areas, CAA to resolve policy and legality challenges.
- Develop a holistic approach for strategic resource plan for new aircraft acquisition.
- Unlock future growth by influencing the end-to-end strategy with network and other resource areas.

**What you’ll bring to British Airways**:

- Degree educated (or equivalent experience)
- Operational experience of the end-to-end resource supply and demand process including customer impact and drivers for successful performance
- Proven leadership skills
- Excellent planning, numerical and analytical skills with an ability to present complex analysis and data in simple terms
- Strong financial management skills
- Understanding of employment legislation and resource area industrial agreements
- Understanding of the commercial/network scheduling processes
- Experience of working with trade unions and proven experience in delivering and managing change
