Head of Business Intelligence

**£90k - £120k** **Bury St Edmunds (Travel to the office for 3 days per week)** **The Role**: I am working with a high-growth Software business backed by a mid-market Private Equity fund. The business is led by a strong CIO and CSO who have a technical background leading the business through the next phase of growth. The business has had huge successthrough executing its M&A strategy and now has a strong portfolio of market-leading businesses. I am looking to speak to a hands-on Head of Business Intelligence with extensive experience in designing, architecting, and implementing a modern, end-to-end BIcapability, from business requirements and data-modeling to reliable data pipelines, providing a high-quality multi-dimensional 'single-version-of-truth’, with multi-tier access, including data visualisation. This exciting role will be responsible for understandingthe requirements, and the key metrics in the business, and designing and building the BI platform from scratch, utilising modern cloud technologies to democratise powerful, accurate, reliable data throughout the business, driving effective decision-makingand a data-driven culture. **Role Responsibilities**: - Assess, design and implement the greenfield business intelligence platform, utilising cloud technologies, with availability, security, and reliability. - Pragmatically assess and recommend the appropriate cloud partner and relevant products, out of Azure or AWS, with an eye on the feature set, capabilities, and cost of ownership. - Work directly with the Product Director to build and provide a compelling roadmap for the companies data capability, aligned with business goals and strategies. - Mobilise the team against the roadmap, and measure and report on progress. - Model the business data requirement utilising best-practice, including multiple data sources to produce a more sophisticated, centralised, multi-dimensional data model. - Build a thorough, multi-function business matrix, aligned with business priorities and a thorough understanding of critical objectives, metrics and associated data sources. - Create design patterns and build reliable data pipelines, that clean, transform and aggregate data from disparate sources into a "single version of truth". - Support the team in delivering effective data visualisation or investigatory deep dives to users that support effective decision-making. - Provide management and leadership for the centralised Data Team, consisting of both data engineers and analysts. - Be an advocate of a data-first culture, fostering a sense of data-centric community across teams, and driving governance, best-practice and data empowerment / democratisation **Personal Specification**: - Extensive, hands-on experience with core database technologies, visualisation products and BI and data warehouse platforms. - Deep, hands-on technical experience and knowledge of designing, implementing and supporting modern business intelligence platforms, in either the Azure or AWS ecosystems (preferably both). - Proven skills in multi-dimensional technical design and data architecture, utilising industry-standard design practices (Kimball, Inmon, etc.). - Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to understand business requirements in-depth. - Evangelise the power and value of data throughout the business and the importance of data empowerment and democratisation. - Proven track record of being able to mobilise a large-scale green-field implementation project, and provide a compelling and effective delivery approach. - Comfortable working with the wider tech team, and an inspirational leader in pulling cross-functional teams together.
