The Spice Shop is a brightly coloured, aromatic shop situated in the heart of Notting Hill. We specialize in hand made spice blends and an extensive array of herbs and spices. Our premium quality spices range from the ordinary to the extraordinary. Our family business has been supplying customers from across the globe for 30+ years.
The Spice Shop is looking for a shop assistant to support the existing team in the heart of Notting Hill. This is a part time position but could turn into full time if suitable for all parties. We do not expect you to be an expert in spices - that knowledge will come in time if you are passionate about food and enjoy cooking.
The role requires excellent communication skills, cash handling and great customer service. Alongside your duties on the shop floor, you will also be checking and processing deliveries, packing and labeling spices, restocking and keeping the storage area clean and tidy.
This job would suit someone who is flexible and available at the weekends and/or during the week as we are open every day of the week. Please state your availability when responding to this post.
Duties include
- Dealing with customers in a friendly and helpful manner
- Setting up and closing shop at the beginning and end of day
- Labelling spices
- Packing spices
- Cleaning throughout the shop
- Dealing with deliveries, which can include lifting and carrying heavy boxes and sacks
- Fulfilling mail orders
- Restocking
- Punctual
- Able to work under pressure on busy days
- Self-organised and able to structure their day so that all tasks are fulfilled
- Tidy
- Knowledge of Social Media would be a plus
**Job Type**: Part-time
**Salary**: Up to £9.50 per hour
