NERC is a partner organisation within UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). UKRI brings together nine organisations to create one single, independent entity with a strong voice, and a vision to ensure the UK maintains its world-leading position in research and innovation.
NERC is the UK's leading funder of environmental science. Our scientists study and monitor the physical, chemical and biological processes on which our planet and life itself depends - from pole to pole, from the deep Earth and oceans to the atmosphere and space. The science we fund has impact across all sectors. It provides a platform for future UK prosperity by contributing to a safe, healthy, productive nation. Many
programmes involve collaborations with national and international partners to tackle large-scale environmental science challenges, including those faced by developing countries.
The NERC Estate Team has responsibility for the delivery of the NERC estate strategy, compliance and landlord assurance, environmental sustainability and specific project assurance across four UK NERC Centres, varying dependant on funding and operating models. These Centres are the British Antarctic Survey, the British Geological Survey, the National Oceanography Centre and the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology. This role will support all areas of team responsibility with ample opportunity to shadow and experience business from a Head Office function as well as from a Centre operational standpoint.
This is an exciting opportunity to learn a broad range of skills and experience many facets of estate management, project management and surveying to contribute to your personal development. Our small team is supportive and collaborative, and you will have a wide range of interesting work to undertake daily.
There will be opportunities to travel with the team to sites around the UK to experience our interesting and varied environmental science facilities, to illustrate the relationship between the function of the NERC Estates Head Office and the operational Estates Teams.
