Full-time, 37 hours per week**

At RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire, Serco has been providing multi-activity and engineering support since 1997.Serco proudly support the RAF and MoD, supplying around 20 different services onsite, from engine and aircraft maintenance, to fuelling and groundcontrol services. RAF Brize Norton is the largest operating base within the Royal Air Force, providing air transport and air-to-air refuelling to the RAF fleet, and as the Structures and Composite Bay Team Leader, you will contribute enormously to the vitalwork carried out here. You’ll also be part of the wider team, with 5,800 service personnel, 1,200 contractors and 300 civil servants on site.

The bay is responsible for metal and composite fabrication, repair, and damage assessments for RAF Brize Norton C-17 aircraft. Work is carried out on and off aircraft. This includes:
Counter sinking, Heat Treating, Blending, marking up/measuring, cutting, Carbon Fibre, Drilling, Bonding, Sanding on/off aircraft (setting up of breathing equipment on aircraft), Riveting, Metal Work Fabrication and Titanium work.The team are required towork in confined spaces on the C17 aircraft. The team also deliver Composite awareness briefs to RAF Brize Norton station personnel as required.
**Working Regime**:
Mon-Fri 37 Hour week
08:00 hrs -17:00 Mon -Thu
08:00 hrs
- 13:00 Fri
Standby and overtime as required.

**Key Competencies**:

- Current working knowledge and experience of Aircraft Structural Metal and Composite Repairs on aircraft and in the bay environment. Including damage assessment, frame skin replacements, fuselage damage repairs, structural component changes, corrosion removal,manufacture of repair parts, drilling, countersinking, riveting, close tolerance work and bolting of replacement parts.
- Sheet metal fabrication experience within aerospace industry.
- Composite fabrication experience. Ideally within aerospace industry.
- Ability to read and understand airframe repair drawings and instructions.
- Effective working knowledge of current Aviation Maintenance regulatory requirements, processes and procedures including the MAA 4800 Series.MAOS Mil Pt 145 Regulatory Articles.
- Must have high standards of oral and written communication skills.
- Due to the nature of the role, you must be able to achieve MoD Security Clearance.

**Roles Responsibilities related to the role**:

- Lead and Manage colleagues under your control - including performance appraisals, mentoring and personal development to ensure they deliver effective, efficient, “right first time every time” output to our customers.
- Ensure that sufficient authorised, competent, qualified personnel are in place to plan, perform, supervise, inspect, certify the work and complete the tasks.
- Ensure the continued competence of all personnel under your control by ensuring the arrangement of appropriate continuation training and appropriate human factors training.
- Ensure a record of all training and experience of your team of maintenance personnel is kept and available for update and review.
- Ensure that all maintenance and tasks are correctly certified and that records of maintenance carried out are retained safely and securely for the statutory period. Unless previously reported by the Operator, the Engineering Manager is responsible for reportingto the DE&S Delivery (DT) any condition of the aircraft (or component), which could hazard safety.
- Ensure that good maintenance procedures are established and are available within the organisation.
- Ensuring good maintenance practices are in place and where appropriate compliance with Military Aviation Authority requirements.
- Ensure compliance with relevant Quality Systems.
- Ensure appropriate internal, external and independent audit activities are carried out, recorded and acted on when required.
- Initiate fault analysis, when required, to identify and to act on any adverse trends.
- Ensure that personnel under their control have an effective working knowledge of current regulatory requirements. Including MAOS Mil Pt 145 Regulatory Articles appropriate MoD legislation and local Serco and RAF Brize Norton processes and procedures.
- Notify the Serco Engineering Manager and the Accountable Manager whenever deficiencies emerge that require their attention in respect of safety, risk compliance, airworthiness and engineering standards.
- Must implement and promote a “Zero Harm” Open Reporting Safety Culture where all individuals are willing and able to report any issue or event which they believe has or could potentially lead to a Safety risk.
- Deliver Continuous Improvement to ensure that Teams under their control drive for effectiveness, efficiency and improvements in the output and working environment.
