**Job Description
Who are we looking for?**
We are seeking a collaborative and delivery focused Commercial Manager to work on an innovative and critical UK project - Spherical Tokamak for Energy Production (STEP). You will be responsible for delivering and assisting with the elements of the commercialisationof Fusion Energy, during this exciting period of growth for UKAEA.
**What will you be responsible for?**:
- Provide relevant commercial advice, management, and direction to the STEP Team (including contract reviews, negotiation and management as well as advising the technical teams on the correct commercial strategies for their projects)
- Work closely with Legal, the Intellectual Property Manager and other key stakeholders to ensure the successful and timely delivery of those contracts
- Be a technical expert in understanding public sector spending and procurement processes, whist requiring the role holder to undertake contract management on a variety of contract types, with varying complexity
- Provide commercial support to the STEP Programme Executive and STEP Senior Leadership Team, through Tranche 1 and beyond
- Support the programme teams with the creation and management of a wide range of contracts and collaboration agreements
- Assist with workload allocation and distribution to the other commercial STEP Team members, working collaboratively with colleagues across the function
**Qualifications
Essential skills, experience and competence required**:
- Knowledge and experience of UK legal [contractual] framework
- Knowledge and experience of negotiating and operating a range of contract models
- Commercial management experience in a scientific/technical environment
- Delivery focused coupled with experience of working to tight/fixed deadlines
- Negotiation skills
- Contract writing skills
**Desirable skills, experience and competence**:
- Knowledge and experience of EU legal [contractual] framework
- Knowledge and experience of OJEU
- Experience in risk assessment and mitigation skills
- Legal or Business degree
