**Full time, Permanent Role**

**The salary is £19,357 (+ 3% salary increase) +£3856 shift allowance**

Sitting within a beautiful and secure site, the Defence Academy hosts 2 lakes and is surrounded by acres of scenic woodland. The Academy trains the future commanders and staff officers of all three UK Armed Services and those from many countries around the world.

We are currently recruiting for a Central Service warden to join the team at the defence academy and report into the Central Service Team Leader. The Key Purpose of the role is to maintain the physical security of the buildings and grounds belonging to the Joint Services Command & Staff College.

**Work may include**:

- Operating the electronic door entry system.
- Monitoring the close circuit television (CCTV) system.
- Reacting/ or investigating any activation on the Fire Panel
- Conducting security patrols in accordance with current instructions.
- Providing security escorts or static security checks as required.
- Locking and unlocking external access doors to JSCSC buildings in accordance with current instructions.
- Patrolling and monitoring authorised use of JSCSC roads and car parks.
- Responding effectively to any security incidents or exercises in accordance with security instructions, security plans or direct orders of the JSCSC Security Officer.
- Recording and reporting promptly all security breaches.
- Supporting Site and JSCSC Reception staff in enabling proper authorisation and entry permissions for new starters and visitors to JSCSC.
- Providing advice, on request, to all authorised persons on JSCSC security matters.
- Supporting Reception staff in the effective operation of the JSCSC Reception Desk and provide Reception cover out of core hours - to include booking rooms on Agilysys out of core hours for any ‘Walk-Ins’
- Operating the JSCSC Reception Desk and telephone exchange (providing answering and message service) outside core working hours.
- Maintain a high state of security awareness.

- Be methodical, organised and able to work under pressure
- Can communicate at all levels
- Problem solving skills
- Ability to work on own or as part of a team
- Flexible approach to work, must be discreet
- You will have to gain enhanced clearance within the first 3 months of employment. Serco will arrange this on your behalf.
