**Unit & Packing Operative (2 Positions Available)**

**Location**: Elland, West Yorkshire

**Job Type**:0-Hour Contract** (Majority Full-Time Availability)
**Shifts**: Monday - Friday, 9 AM - 5 PM
**Rate of Pay**: £11.44 per hour (regardless of age) - increasing in line with the government wage increase in April

This role is based on a **0-hour contract.** While full-time work is available most of the time, there are occasional **5-day periods where work is limited or unavailable** due to shipment delays. Applicants must be **flexible and understanding of this aspect** before applying.

**Role Overview**:
This is a **physical, fast-moving role** that requires **strength, quick thinking, and initiative.** You will be handling **heavy bundles and boxes**, some weighing up to **45kg**, so **fitness and strength are essential.**

This role **requires independent working.** While directors are hands-on and available, **you will be expected to know your job, manage your time effectively, and take responsibility for your daily tasks** without constant supervision. You must be able to **plan your own breaks** and structure your workday to ensure efficiency.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Following picking lists** to accurately prepare orders
- **Quality checking** items based on current grading guidelines
- **Sorting and organising stock** efficiently within the unit
- **Learning to identify** vintage tags and differentiate between **premium and non-premium** items
- **Recognising branded items** - knowledge of vintage and designer labels is a huge advantage
- **Handling and lifting heavy bundles** (up to 45kg)
- **Managing time effectively** to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently
- **Working quickly and accurately** without needing constant supervision
- **Using initiative** to solve problems—if something isn’t working, think of a better way
- **Communicating effectively across different teams** to keep operations running smoothly
- **Supporting teammates** and making sure everyone contributes equally to the workload

**Requirements**:

- **Physically fit and strong** - able to handle heavy lifting
- **Fast-paced worker** who can keep up with the demands of a busy unit
- **Smart thinker and problem solver** - if something isn’t working, take action
- **Able to use initiative** - don’t wait to be told, think ahead and improve processes
- **Great team player** with **strong communication skills** - must be able to communicate clearly across different teams
- **Strong time-keeping skills** - must be able to manage and structure your own workday efficiently
- **Experience with branded items** and vintage fashion is **a big advantage**:

- **Knowledge of reselling** (eBay, Depop, Vinted, etc.) is highly desirable
- Ability to **work independently** while ensuring high standards are met
- **Flexibility** to accommodate occasional periods of limited work due to shipment delays
- **Ambition to grow** - opportunities for promotion into **managerial roles**
