**Job Title**: Locum Consultant in Paediatrics
**Duration**: [3 months, extendable]
**Hours**: Full-time / Part-time / On-call as required
**Reports to**: Clinical Lead / Head of Paediatrics Department
**Job Summary**:
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Provide comprehensive clinical care to paediatric patients, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.
- Manage acute and chronic paediatric conditions, both in inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Lead ward rounds, clinics, and multidisciplinary team meetings, ensuring effective communication and patient management.
- Supervise and support junior doctors, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals in the delivery of paediatric care.
- Participate in the on-call rota, providing emergency cover as required.
- Ensure that clinical records are accurately maintained and updated in a timely manner.
- Work collaboratively with other departments, such as Neonatology, Emergency, and Surgery, to provide coordinated patient care.
- Participate in clinical governance, audit, research, and teaching activities within the department.
- Provide input into service development, quality improvement initiatives, and strategic planning within the paediatrics unit.
- Maintain professional standards in line with regulatory and hospital guidelines, ensuring compliance with clinical protocols and best practices.
**Essential Qualifications**:
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) or relevant medical licensing authority.
- CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training) in Paediatrics or equivalent.
- Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH/FRCPCH) or equivalent international qualification.
- Proven experience working at a consultant level in paediatrics, including subspecialty experience if applicable (e.g., Neonatology, Paediatric Emergency Medicine).

- Demonstrated expertise in managing a wide range of paediatric conditions.
- Excellent clinical, diagnostic, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to lead and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication skills with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Experience in teaching and supervising junior staff and medical students.
- Commitment to clinical governance, patient safety, and continuous professional development.
- Proven experience in managing paediatric emergencies and acute care situations.
- Understanding of paediatric safeguarding and child protection policies.
**Desirable Qualifications**:
- Additional subspecialty training or interest in areas such as Paediatric Cardiology, Gastroenterology, or Neurology.
- Experience in research, clinical audits, and quality improvement projects.
- Publications in relevant paediatric journals.
