This is an exciting opportunity to join the Dementia Intensive Support Team in East Suffolk.
If you have a passion for working with this client group and hold the relevant Non-Medical Prescribing qualification and registration, then we would be really pleased to hear from you.
We are looking for someone with strong leadership and communication skills. You will have experience of working with this client group in the community, undertaking positive risk taking and working in a multi-disciplinary way. The team has a strong person-centred approach, working with clients and carers to achieve positive outcomes for both.
**In this role as DIST Non-medical Prescriberyou will be**:
- Working with other multi-disciplinary professionals within the team
- Manage and hold a caseload
- Undertake initial assessments
- Engage and work with clients with dementia and their carers
- Liaise with statutory and voluntary Sector to get care and support in place as required
- Monitor and support packages of care
- Alongside the team's Speciality Doctor, you will be offering support and advice around medication to all members of the team
- Provide management and clinical supervision for members of the team
Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust is the main provider of specialist mental health services for the counties of Norfolk and Suffolk, serving a population of 1.6 million.
The Dementia Intensive Support Teamis a part of the Suffolk Care Group, working within the community to meet the needs of people with Dementia and their carers.

DIST Non-medical Prescriber
- The post will involve you working autonomously in the community. You will be holding a caseload and managing this appropriately. This will involve engaging with people, and using effective communication, often in difficult and stressful circumstances. You will be undertaking initial assessments, introducing services, making referrals to appropriate agencies, and monitoring and supporting situations to achieve positive outcomes for our service users and carers.
- You will be supported by a team of multi-disciplinary professionals, and you would form a part of this team contributing to meetings both within the service and in wider networks.
- The post will include working alongside the team's Speciality Doctor, offering medication advice and support to team members as required
- It is expected that you will be undertaking management and clinical supervision with staff who are junior to you, within the team
- It is expected that, as part of the role, you will demonstrate strong leadership skills and act as a positive role model for the team
- The post requires strong communication skills and an ability to empathise and engage with both the individual with the dementia and their carer.

**This post attracts a recruitment premium of £3,000 (pro-rata for part time roles). This is a one off payment with half paid on appointment and half paid after the completion of a satisfactory probation period (6 months). The premium is taxable. Please note that should you leave employment, or choose to move to an alternative post within the Trust that does not attract this recruitment premium, you will be required to reimburse all or some it, as follows: 100% of the value of the premium in the first 12 months; 50% of the value of the premium in the period 12 months to 2 years following appointment.
