The Norfolk and Waveney Perinatal Community Mental Health Service continues to expand in line with the ambitions of the NHS Long Term Plan which has invested £365 million in specialist perinatal mental health services as part of a five-year programme. This is aimed at increasing access to expert treatment and support for an extra 30,000 women each year, closer to home, when they need it.

This is an exciting new role within our team to help us to offer more family-focused interventions and support our work with partners and fathers.

Main duties of the job

You will play an important role in helping the service to deliver on the NHS long-term plan ambitions to deliver family and couple interventions, and in supporting the team to increase our offer of work with whole family systems. You will work as part of a broad MDT and will work closely with the systemic family psychotherapist, supporting a range of professionals to ‘think family’.

Main duties will include but not be limited to - working with the family therapist to assess and formulate with individuals and families with a range of complex mental health difficulties in the perinatal period, provision of family interventions, offering consultation and supporting the team to think systemically.

We would like to appoint a skilled, committed, and motivated individual with excellent communication and organisational skills and a keen interest in working with families in the perinatal period. You will have completed the foundation and intermediate years of systemic family therapy training and will be qualified in a core mental health profession. Previous experience of working with pre-school children is ideal but not essential.

We can accommodate some flexible working in line with the service need and we are Family Friendly and supportive teams. There will be a requirement to travel independently across the beautiful Norfolk and Suffolk countryside on occasion.
