Support Worker
Our very active client has a passion for music and would love to visit every Hard Rock Café, an exciting goal to have, could you help him achieve this? Along with playing football for his local league, he loves swimming and working out in his home gym and his love of animals will mean you get to join him on regular walks with his family dogs. His ideal Support Worker would share a love of these hobbies but most importantly you should be a kind, positive individual who loves frequent days out. If you think you would be a good fit, get in touch.
**Position**: Support Worker (Bank)
**The Role**:
Our client is a 27-year-old man with an Acquired Brain Injury incurred at birth. He has reduced vision which impacts his daily life so you would need to be constantly vigilant to ensure his safety. He has cognitive difficulties and can experience acute anxiety and fatigue; this would need to be managed closely by his Support Worker. Our client is verbal and fully mobile, through the support of his larger support team, he can live on his own and mostly take care of his regime.
**About You**:
- You will provide a supportive and energetic approach to our client by following his Care plan and helping him achieve his rehabilitation goals
- You will be kind, positive, and reliable with a good sense of humor and the ability to think on your feet.
- You will enjoy the company of animals as our client has a tortoise and sometimes looks after family members’ dogs with whom he enjoys walking.
- You will be happy to join our client on days out and family holidays.
- You will need to be a driver as you may take our client out in his automatic car.
**Pay**:
- Day hours - £14 per hour on weekdays, £16 per hour on weekends/bank holidays (rates will be slightly reduced during the probationary period).
- Night shifts: Sleeping nights are paid at the National Minimum Wage per hour (currently £6.83 to £9.50 depending on your age).
- You will rarely be disturbed by our client at night but if you are awake will be paid for those hours at day rates as above.
**Hours/Shifts**:
- Fortnightly rotas are planned well in advance.
- A 24-hour shift pattern is preferred however, other shifts can be offered with the minimum shift being 8 hours - e.g. 08:00 to 16:00 or 12:00 to 20:00.
- There is also the possibility of a 12-hour shift from 20:00 to 08:00
- Day rate would be applied for shifts 08:00 - 23:00
- Night rate would be applied for shifts 23:00 - 08:00 as shown above
- There may be an opportunity to work extra hours if the cover is required or for days out/holidays which are quite frequent.
