**Hours**: Minimum of 8.33 hours per week over 39 weeks per year (Term Time Only).

**Grade/SCP**: SRS Band 4, SCP 11-17. Full time salary £22,129 - £24,920. Minimum part time salary £4,277.83 - £4,817.36
**Location**: The role will be a mix of remote working and working on site within our Trust office at St Katherine’s House, Derby and in our academies. The Professional Clerk will be required to attend meetings within the academies to work with Local Governing Bodies as well as Clerking for specific panels as required. Many Local Governing Body meetings occur outside of the main school day thus post holders should expect to undertake late afternoon and evening work as required.
The St Ralph Sherwin Catholic Multi Academy Trust is seeking to recruit a qualified Professional Clerk to join our central governance team on a part time basis.
The central governance team is led by our Head of Governance who leads effective and efficient governance across the Trust and line manages a team of Professional Clerks and the Governance Officer. Our Professional Clerks work directly with our 24 Local Governing Bodies, our Headteachers and our central executive team to ensure that the work of the Local Governing Bodies is securing excellence in governance at local level and is fully statutorily compliant with requirements set by regulatory bodies such as the Department for Education (DfE) and the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA).
The post holder will be allocated to work with a range of Local Governing Bodies within our Trust and post holders will working both remotely and on site with our governors. There are Governor Symposium events and training opportunities for governors which Professional Clerks are also invited to attend. Professional Clerks will be required to attend meetings with the Head of Governance and governance team and undertake update training as required, notably when there are legislative or regulatory changes in governance that we are required to action in our work as a Trust.
**About the role**
The Professional Clerk will join a small team of fellow Clerks and governance professionals who are continually developing high quality, efficient governance in meeting the three-year strategic plan for the Trust and in providing sound advice and guidance to support the work of volunteer governors.
Professional Clerks will be required to support Local Governing Bodies in fulfilling their duties set out in the Scheme of Delegation, conducting business with rigor and good discussion that enables academies to excel. The Clerking team is responsible for high quality administrative and procedural processes so that legal and regulatory requirements are met. In addition, the Professional Clerks will work as team to ensure that administration of panels for exclusions and complaints for example, are delivered to a high standard and follow due process.
The Professional Clerking roles are challenging and rewarding with opportunity also to develop a good breadth and depth of knowledge work with a range of colleagues centrally such as the Trust’s Data Protection Officer, as well as the Head of Governance who also fulfils the role of Company Secretary.
Those appointed into Professional Clerking roles in the Trust are expected to uphold the Nolan Principles at all times and fulfil the role in accordance with the DfE (2017) Clerking Competency Framework.
**About you**
You must be efficient and highly organised, possess excellent communication skills both orally and in writing, and be able to quickly develop and sustain effective work relationships with a range of stakeholders. You should be able to work at pace and be agile in managing multiple work streams for local governance as well as meeting requirements of central governance functions in a Trust.
As a qualified Clerk you should have strong governance experience and a secure understanding of regulatory frameworks for the education sector.
