**About the Buyer role**:
We are now seeking to recruit a Buyer who will report in to the Purchasing Manager, and support the purchasing team to achieve set targets. The role will have a clear focus, supporting the procurement function to help achieve objectives required to aid delivery of a value for money supply base for the organisation
**Responsibilities of the Buyer**:
- Purchases materials and other supplies at the best possible price in accordance with the required quality, quantity, delivery specification, and other requirements
- Investigates alternative suppliers offering equivalent goods on more cost-effective terms
- Compiling and maintaining purchase records, supplier databases and contracts
- Raising and Placing of Purchase Orders for Engineering and Office Requirements
- Expediting of Purchase Orders
- Monitor forecasts, safety stocks and consumption of allocated parts
- Assisting purchasing activities across the rest of the Radiodetection group
- Establishes and maintains close working relationships with Major Suppliers at Senior and Operational level to gain an in depth knowledge of their trading conditions
- Assist Purchasing Manager in achieving the annual KPI and Cost Reduction targets
- Assist Purchasing Manager with the production, distribution and presentation of the monthly purchase reports

**Requirements for the Buyer role**:
- Relevant academic qualification(s), ideally CIPS or equivalent
- Strong commercial purchasing experience
- Thorough knowledge of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), preferably with IFS
- Knowledge of Mechanical Assemblies, Machining and Fabrication and/or Electronic Components, Electro-Mechanical, PCBA’s and Full Turnkey Assemblies
- Able to interpret Engineering Drawings and Bill of Materials
- Demonstrated negotiating skills
- Knowledge of supply chain management
- Knowledge of the legal aspects of Purchasing
- Effective KPI management
- Understanding of Lean Principles
