**Role overview**

We have an exciting opportunity for a Spar Sales Assistant based at our Spar Hicksons Birchwood store on Birchwood Ave. This role is for a minimum 32 hours a week, you will need to work a mix of mornings (7am starts), mid's, and late's (10 pm Finishes) including weekends on a rota basis. Will be required to work extra shifts when needed.

This role includes a requirement to work on Post Office local that is based in store.It will the require the necessary security checks and clearance for this role.

The applicant will be someone who likes to have fun hard working with a team and is passionate about offering excellent service and standards to our customers.

We are looking for someone who is motivated, friendly, hands-on and enjoys working in retail.

Hickson's is a family business operating three stores in Lincoln and North Hykeham. Beginning as a butchers in 1903 we have grown into three fast paced SPAR convenience stores offering everything from newspapers & groceries to fuel and Subway.

Hickson's has always been committed to developing a loyal and dedicated workforce that is focused on providing excellent customer service and behaving with honesty and integrity. The company has a keen interest in supporting local suppliers and is continuing to provide support to local charities through fundraising events and in store collections.

**Responsibilities**
- To assist in maximising sales and profit by carrying out allocated tasks in order to contribute to the continuous improvement of the store and staff and provision of friendly, efficient service to customers, colleagues and visitors
- To deliver customer service in line with SPARkling Service standards
- To contribute ideas for driving the business and it’s team forward
- To use relevant processes and policies to ensure the security of people, stock and cash
- Report all customer complaints to manager on duty
- To comply with relevant legislation and health and food safety responsibilities as defined in the induction period and training
- Will be required to work evenings and weekends on a rota basis.

**Skills/Experience**
- Basic education (numeracy and literacy)
- NVQ Level 2-3 in Retail Skills, Customer Care or similar is preferred but not essential
- APLH (Award for Personal License Holder) is desirable
- Previous experience in a similar role and/or industry is preferred
- Reliably follows instructions and procedures
- Some understanding of health and food safety and legislative responsibilities of a retail environment and the skills to assist with those responsibilities
- Ability to contribute ideas for driving the business and it’s team forward
- Experience of using a Challenge 25 policy desirable
- Keen and enthusiastic approach to working both in a team and independently
- Previous cash handling experience is preferred but not essential

Applicants must be aged 18 or over as we sell age restricted products.

**Salary**: Up to £9.50 per hour
